Mt. Spokane boys top North Central in district play-in game

Stu Stiles scored 15 points and Tyler Drumheller added 10 as Mt. Spokane beat North Central 52-43 in a District 8 3A boys basketball play-in game Saturday night at Mt. Spokane.

The Wildcats (5-16) outscored the Indians 17-8 in the fourth quarter. Chase McDuffie had 15 points and Jamil Foster added 13 for North Central (3-18).

Mt. Spokane advances to play at No. 2 Shadle Park (12-8) in a loser-out game at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday.

North Central’s season is over.

District 7 2B

Reardan 65, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 49: Trevor Peone scored 21 points and Nick Brockman added 17 points and 16 rebounds as the third-seeded Indians beat the sixth-seeded Broncos at Mead High School. Brandon Kohler added 14 points and seven assists for the Indians (13-8), who took control with a 23-10 second-quarter run. Connor O’Neill had 15 points and Jake Dewald added 11 for Lind-Ritzville/Sprague (11-10).

Reardan will play No. 2 Colfax at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Mt. Spokane High School. The Indians are 1-1 against the Bulldogs this year. The Broncos will play Liberty at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Mead in a loser-out game.

Colfax 63, Liberty 42: Justin Berarducci led four players in double figures with 19 points as the Bulldogs (16-5) jumped ahead early and cruised past the Lancers (8-14) at Mead. Brandon Gfeller and Jay Hart had 12 points and Kyle Johnson chipped in 10 for Colfax. The Bulldogs shot 58 percent from the floor in the first half and led by 19 points at halftime. Match Burnham scored 17 points and Dylan Salsbury added 10 for Liberty.

Northwest Christian 79, Kettle Falls 36: Kwin Hanson scored 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting and the top-seeded Crusaders (21-0) whipped the Bulldogs (3-19) at Mt. Spokane High School. Dakota Winward added 18 points and Reuben Clark chipped in 14 for Northwest Christian. Kettle Falls was led by Conner McKern’s 10 points. The Crusaders advance to play Davenport at 5 p.m. Monday at Mt. Spokane. The Bulldogs will play St. George’s at 5 p.m. Monday at Mead in a loser-out game.

Davenport 63, St. George’s 37: Joey Gunning scored 19 points and Cole Evers added 15 points and 12 rebounds as the fourth-seeded Gorillas (15-6) routed the fifth-seeded Dragons (10-11) at Mt. Spokane. Wyatt Evers added 10 points, eight rebounds and three steals for Davenport, which outscored St. George’s by 16 points in the second half. Will Tender tallied a game-high 20 points for the Dragons.

District 7 1B

Wellpinit 52, Almira/Coulee-Hartline 45: A.J. Kieffer had 21 points and 11 rebounds and the Redskins (19-5) edged the Warriors (16-6) in Deer Park. Derek Isaak had a team-high 23 points for Almira/Coulee-Hartline. Wellpinit will play Valley Christian Saturday in Deer Park for the district title.

Valley Christian 59, Northport 37: Noah McConahy scored 17 points to lead the Panthers (19-2) past the Mustangs (18-5) in Deer Park. Jeremiah Johnson had 12 points and David Higgins added 11 for Northport.

Odessa-Harrington 68, Selkirk 60: Stetson Sanford scored 20 points and Justin Hunt added 17 as the Titans (13-9) beat the Rangers (9-15) in Deer Park. Nick Gardner had 18 points for Selkirk, which was eliminated.

District 9 1B

St. John-Endicott 75, Rosalia 64: Cole McCanna scored 25 points and Dakota White added 16 as the Eagles (14-6) beat the visiting Spartans (12-10). Craig Nelson led three Rosalia players in double figures with 20 points. St. John-Endicott will play Colton on Friday in Endicott for the district title. Rosalia will play Pomeroy on Tuesday at Endicott in a loser-out game.

Colton 72, LaCrosse-Washtucna 65: Dustin Patchen scored 28 points and Jake Straughan added 19 as the Wildcats (18-2) edged the visiting Tigercats (8-13). Darcy Stamper had 18 points and Jake Aune added 16 for LaCrosse-Washtucna. LaCrosse-Washtucna plays Garfield-Palouse on Tuesday at Endicott in a loser-out game.

Nonleague

Coeur d’Alene 63, Kellogg 41: Deon Watson scored 16 points as the Vikings (14-5) took control from the get-go and beat the visiting Wildcats (14-3). Ryan McDonald scored a game-high 20 points – 16 coming in the first half – for Kellogg.

Moscow 50, Post Falls 46: Lane Brook scored 20 points and Derek Pennington added 14 as the Bears (10-10) edged the host Trojans (17-3) in a regular-season finale. Marcus Colbert led Post Falls with 21 points.
