Obituary: Jamieson, Charlene

JAMIESON, Charlene

Charlene Roweena
(Sorensen) Jamieson, age 76, passed away peacefully at home in the Spokane Valley on Tuesday February 7, 2012.
Charlene was born on April 17, 1935 in Bellingham, WA to Naomi and Jens Sorensen.

She married Wallace Scott Jamieson on March 26, 1960.

They enjoyed 41 years of marriage until Wally’s passing in June 2001.
Charlene focused much of her life on raising their two boys and drove school bus in Puyallup, WA in order to match their school schedule.

In 1981 Charlene and Wally opened their first Fantastic Sams salon in Boise, ID-beginning a legacy that continues today in Spokane.

During her years in the salons she was a role model and second mom to many stylists.

Her hard work and positive attitude toward the guests was an inspiration to all and her favorite saying was repeated often, “If you’ve got time to lean, you’ve got time to clean!”

Wally and Charlene retired from Fantastic Sams in 1997, however they continued to maintain many close relationships that had been forged during those years.
Since retiring Charlene enjoyed 15 winters in Yuma, AZ basking in the sunshine and treasuring the company of great friends.
Survivors include her sons Randy (Denise) Jamieson and Scott (Melody) Jamieson both of Spokane; three grandchildren, Ryan (Desiree`) Jamieson, and Brian and Megan Jamieson also of Spokane; as well as her dear friend of eight years, John Murray.

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wally and her brother, Ronald Sorensen.
Per Charlene’s request no funeral services will be held.

The family hopes to host a Celebration of Life gathering in the spring.

Memorial contributions are welcome in her name to Anna Ogden Hall Shelter for Women of Spokane, WA - 2828 W. Mallon Spokane, WA 99201.

The family wishes to thank Kim, Martha, Pam and Wenda of Family First Senior Care for the patient, loving and selfless care they provided our mom during the last seven months of her life.

Your contributions to our family during our time of need will not be soon forgotten.
