Age 86

KUEHL, Margaret I.

(Johnsen)

(Age 86)

Our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother went home on February 9th to be with her heavenly Father.

She was a devout Christian and loved her Lord and Savior with all her heart.

Margaret was born on September 11th, 1925 in Spokane, Washington to John and Irene Johnsen.

She was a first generation Norwegian and very proud of her heritage.

She grew up and graduated from Lewis and Clark HS with honors.

Following graduation, she worked for Bernie Hyland Hudson dealership and then Electro-mart as a bookkeeper and stenographer. In 1954, she married her lucky sweetheart, Bob Kuehl, with whom she would share the next 58 years.

Bob’s first teaching jobs took them to Rockford and Twisp before they finally settled back in Spokane.

In 1955, they started a family which grew to five children, and raising them became her greatest joy.

Margaret was a devoted stay-at-home mom and wife.

She was a room mother at Willard Elementary for 16 years and baked hundreds of pumpkin cookies and valentine cupcakes.

She was a wonderful cook and her pies were world class.

Bob and Margaret had a large garden and she canned numerous fruits and vegetables including sauerkraut for her German husband.

After her children where raised, she loved to travel with Bob, going across the country and to England twice.

They also spent several winters in southern California.

In 2002, she went on the trip of her life to Norway.

She visited the birthplaces of her parents and met numerous relatives for the first time.

Her other passion was her 13 grandchildren.

She enjoyed babysitting and rarely missed their activities or sporting events.

She was always bragging about one of her children or grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband Bob, three daughters: Rebecca Humphrey of Mead, Deanna Jones of Mead, Linda Clarke of Spokane, two sons: Bob Kuehl of Olympia, WA, Craig Kuehl of Chattaroy; 13 grandchildren, one great granddaughter and sister-in-law Evelyn Benson of Everett, WA.

A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held on Saturday, February 18th, at 11:00 am at Turning Point Open Bible Church, 11911 N. Division, Spokane, WA.

Memorial contributions may be made in Margaret’s name to Hospice of Spokane.
