SWEAT,
John Bruce
(Age 83)

Of Mukilteo, WA passed away at his home on January 31, 2012.

John was born on March 3, 1928 in Eureka, MT to John and Alice (Stipe) Sweat.

He lived in Diamond, WA in his early life, and served in the U.S. Navy at the end of WWII.

He was stationed in the Mediterranean.

John married Pierrette Christianne Decremps in 1949 in Nice, France, and had two sons, Bruce and Craig.

John studied engineering at Washington State University and was executive secretary of the Columbia Interstate Compact Commission.

He helped create models of several Washington dams.

He worked for Bovay Engineers and was later a self-employed engineer consultant.



John remarried to Cheryl Joseph and helped raise her two children, Jamie and Tiffany.

He was mayor of the city of Mukilteo from 1977-1981.

Until his death, Sweat was with his partner, Eleanor Egan.

He helped raise her two children, David and Laura.

John was a member of the Westerners, National Rifle Association, Society of American Military Engineers, Association of Washington Generals, and Westerners International.

His hobbies included boats and model trains.

John is survived by companion Eleanor Egan and her children David Unruh (Elena) and Laura Unruh; two brothers, Robert Sweat (Barbara) and William Sweat (Marjorie); his son Craig Sweat (Ann); grandsons Colin Sweat and Christopher Sweat (Krista); daughter-in-law Cheri Sweat; and great-grandchildren Xten and Kaia Sweat.

John was preceded in death by his son Bruce Pierre Sweat, sister Mary Lou Kelly, and granddaughter Karissa Jo Sweat.

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 3:30 p.m. at the Rosehill Community Center, 304 Lincoln Ave. in Mukilteo, WA.
