Book Notes: Whitworth to host Will presentation

From Staff Reports

Mark your calendars. Whitworth University is bringing noted political commentator and author George F. Will to Spokane in October.

But you’ll need to set your alarm clock. Will’s presentation will be part of the university’s annual President’s Leadership Breakfast on Oct. 16 and is set to begin at 7:30 a.m. Tickets will go on sale this spring, according to a Whitworth news release, and sponsorship opportunities will be available.

Will’s column has been syndicated by the Washington Post since 1974, and appears in more than 400 newspapers in the U.S. and Europe. He won a Pulitzer Prize for commentary in 1977.

He also is a noted baseball fan, having written two best-selling baseball books: “Men at Work: The Craft of Baseball” (1990) and “Bunts: Curt Flood, Camden Yards, Pete Rose and other Reflections on Baseball” (1998).

For information on tickets or sponsorships, call Nancy Rau at (509) 777-4250.
