Obituary: Degeare, Thomas John

Age 81


DeGEARE, Thomas John

Known by his neighbors as a Mr. Fix-it who was always willing to help out, passed away peacefully on February 11th in Spokane Valley, WA.

He will be greatly missed by friends and family.

Tom was born on December 30, 1930 in East Chicago, Indiana.

He lived in various areas in the United States and worked in many professions and enjoyed being a private pilot.

Much of Tom’s life he worked as a plumber, electrician and gas fitter.

Tom was a great dog lover and at one time raised Rhodesian Ridgebacks for showing.

He had several National and International Champions.

Buddy, a Hovawart, who has been his best friend for seven years, is really missing him.

Tom served his country during the Korean War, stationed in Alaska.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held many positions over the years including being in the Bishopric, working at the Family History Center and being a Temple worker.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Janette.

He is survived by his wife Jean DeGeare and son John DeGeare (Medical Lake) and daughter Nanette Cobb (Arizona).

He also had four grand-children, Christine DeGeare, Susan CheyAnne, Haley, Cody, Natasha and Alexis.

A Funeral Service will be held on February 17, 2012 at 2:00PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints East Stake Center, 13608 E. 40th Ave., with interment to follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace, 211 N. Government Way.
