FARWELL,
Doris L.

Passed away on February 16, 2012 in Spokane, Washington.

She was born Doris Louise Pritts on February 24, 1924 in Fayette County, Pennsyl- vania, to Corrine and Joseph Pritts.

At a young age, she left home to study nursing in Philadelphia.

After completion of nursing school, Doris joined the U.S. Army Nurse Corps and traveled from her home state to San Francisco, California.

She would work at Letterman Military Hospital at the Presidio, towards the end of World War II.

Doris would meet her husband, Hugh Farwell, in that hospital, as he recovered from injuries received in the Pacific theater.

They married in California, before moving to Hugh’s home state of Washington.

She resided in Spokane for the rest of her life, raising four children and continuing in her profession as a registered nurse.

Doris worked for the Veterans Hospital of Spokane for twenty years and worked an additional forty years as a registered nurse in private retirement communities, throughout the area.

She is survived by her children, her brother Robert Pritts of Columbus, Ohio, seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were made by the Neptune Society of Spokane.

At Doris’s request there will be no memorial services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and Northern Idaho.
