Police investigating fatal stabbing in downtown Spokane

A man is dead after being found in downtown Spokane with a stab wound this morning, police said. Police have arrested David J. Fagundes, 24, and he has been charged with second degree murder. The investigation is still underway and the identity of the victim has not been released. The victim was found near the intersection of Howard Street and Third Avenue shortly before 5 a.m., according to the Spokane Police Department. Police dispatched major crimes detectives to the scene. A portion of Third Avenue was closed to traffic for about four hours as police scoured the scene for clues. KHQ TV reported that the victim, after being found by police in the roadway this morning, was rushed to a local hospital, where he died from the stab wound.
