Police respond to body found in Spokane River

Spokane police are investigating a body found below the Monroe Street Bridge.

Someone called police today about 3:30 p.m. today to report a body on the rocks in the river below the downtown Spokane bridge. It may be a suicide, said police Spokeswoman Officer Jennifer DeRuwe.

The unidentified body is that of an adult male, she said. It is unknown how long the body has been there.

The west side of the bridge is closed to foot traffic while officers investigate.
