ARVAN, Norma J.
(Age 82)

Norma J. Arvan passed away February 15, 2012 in Spokane.

She was born July 9, 1929 in Decorah, Iowa, the daughter of Eli and Bertha (Gilman) Ellickson.

Norma attended nursing school at Kahler Methodist School of Nursing in Rochester, Minnesota before moving to Soap Lake, WA in 1951.

She worked as a Registered Nurse in Soap Lake, Ephrata and Spokane, WA.

She was a faithful member of Salem Lutheran Church, a lifelong Democrat, and a caring and generous soul.

She will be remembered for her hearty laugh, and her love of wild birds and pet dogs and cats.

Norma was preceded in death by her loving husband Theodore G. Arvan; sister Virginia Funke; and brothers James and Howard Ellickson; as well as her furry companions Lancy, Star, Foxy and Gus.

She leaves behind her children James Eli and wife Kathy Arvan, R. Norm Arvan, John F Arvan and Ginger and husband Mike Metcalf; grandchildren Alex Arvan, Eli Arvan, Noah (Monica) Arvan, Anna Arvan, Aimee Charboneau and Matthew (Beth Kleweno) Canterbury; her dear friend Ron Gillett; her Sisters in the Rhoda Circle, and her dog Buddy.

The family wishes to thank all who loved and supported her, and especially those who provided care for her during her brief illness.

She will be missed by all who knew her.

Memorial services will be Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., and will be conducted at Salem Lutheran Church, 1428 W. Broadway, Spokane.
