Obituary: Smith, Betty V.

Age 87

SMITH,
Betty V.

Betty went to be with the Lord, surrounded by her family on February 12, 2012, after a long life filled with love.

Born on June 29, 1924 in San Francisco, California to Frank and Elsie Morgan, she would go to live with her grandparents in the Cheney area when she was little.

Betty attended Cheney schools.

She met and married Frank Parker in 1942.

They had two children Ellen and Robert.

Betty and Frank would later divorce.

She would marry Walter R. Smith in 1957.

They made their home on the Spokane’s South Hill.

Betty was known for her garden, beautiful flowers, and love of family.

Her love of gardening led to her love of canning.

She won numerous awards for her canned goods at the fair and always had plenty to share.

She was affectionately known as Granny and G.G.

(great-grandma).

When asked about her family, her face would light up.

She could talk for hours about her family, who she was so proud of.

Her grandchildren know they could always count on her for anything: there was always room on grandma’s lap.

The last two years of life was spent in an adult family home, where she received the utmost care and love, being treated like a princess, by Deloris and Pete her caregivers.

She blessed us all with her love and we were all lucky to have her in our lives.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband Walter R. Smith and son Robert J. Parker (Cathie).

She is survived by her daughter Ellen L. Fulmer (Lloyd), grandchildren Brent E. Dick (Linda), Lorraine “Lorie” M. White (Barry), Rhonda Haag, Sandra Bolstad (Vern), and Keith R. Conant (Suzette), stepgrandchildren Jack Loveall and Frank Swiggart, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held at Heritage Chapel Saturday February 25, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside services to follow at Spokane Memorial Garden.

There will be a celebration of life after the graveside services at 1918 E. 39th Ave, Spokane Washington.
