Put Clark out to pasture
Accolades to Karen Kearney (“Clark is bad for city,” Feb. 11) on the subject matter. Doug Clark is a one-trick pony and it is time The Spokesman-Review turned him and his negative nagging out to pasture. All he seems to do is use his bully pulpit to denigrate this community, and the individuals who try to serve and make this a better place to live.
He acts like a carrion crow consuming tragedy and spewing dissent. Perhaps he would be happier in Kandahar or Detroit.
God knows he does nothing of value to enhance the literary content of your paper or the reputation of Spokane.
He is a legend in his own mind, but then again he has proven to be mindless.

Take a drink Tom Collins and think for a minute…
Kearney who wrote a ludicrous letter not blaming our business ignorant president, do nothing Congress, lackluster governor or westside centric state legislature for our economic woes in the Lilac City. No, Karen Kearny blamed an aging, ill-mannered columnist for a minor metropolitan newspaper with a dwindling readership.
Reality Check.
Let’s do some background checking and see what’s what….
Doug Clark has been writing for the Spokesman Review for 25 plus years. Every year he raises at least $5K for 2nd Harvest and is the founder and driving force behind Street Music…He mocks the powerful when they stubble…a truly American right of free speech that would have cost him his head in most parts of the world. Clark has made countless enemies over the years…
About a year ago, Doug Clark lampooned a prosperous proposal to increase the number of County Commissioners from 3 to 5.

This ill-conceived scheme was championed by none other than….wait for it….Karen Kearney
Clark mocked her project and Kearney, like a good GOP elephant, didn’t forgive or forget…
A year has passed and revenge is a dish best served cold…..one would not want folks to think one was grinding an axe…that’s just not Christian….
Asking around and the 411 on Kearney is that she is the QUEEN of delayed petty pay back….just ask Sheriff Ozzie…..

or Nancy McLaughlin….
Don’t mess with Karen Kearney folks….she will get ya back…..eventually….

“an aging, ill-mannered columnist for a minor metropolitan newspaper”
Does that mean that Doug Clark is one of those “curmudgeonly condescending malcontents”? If so, I see a new political party in the offing the… “CCM Party”.
The Democrats, Republicans, and Tea Party had better watch out! If the CCM Party gets off the ground there is no telling how much political strength it might have.

And 60 Minutes should fire Andy Rooney. oh wait…
Tom Collins and the original whiner should get out of Spokane more.

haha, so Kearney’s original lame try to get Doug fired was in revenge for a defamation piece he did on her? oh that’s rich.
I think I’ll move my business to Spokane and tell the city it’s because of the wit and humor of Doug Clark.

With Doug one riles to read his station
Antipathies his dedication
I think this needs commemoration.
Immortalize his likeness by statue
A pigeon perch but not too crass
Would take a fairly bit of brass
Affixed to RiverPark’s green grass
For generations to enjoy and view
On the plaque tributes rebellion
To this SpokaKnighted hellion
Words for passersby to dwell yon
And directions to the nearest Loo

If we are going to fire Doug Clark, because we do not like him making fun of our city. We better fire Jay Leno too, after all, the only time our city gets on the Tonight Show, is because of our queer bashing gay mayor, and our ugly prostitutes. I am sure that has cost us a few jobs, and discourages people from moving here. Or we could stop doing things like rehiring drunk cops. and making ourselves a laughing stock, all over the country. Firing Doud, and Jay does seem simpler.

I Hope Karen Kearney’s blasting of Clark doesn’t go away soon. She serves as my barometer as to how good his articles are when they come out. The more p^^^ed she gets, the better the column.
