Condom wrap invites report on where, how

Mcclatchy

SEATTLE – A program to hand out condoms with high-tech wrappers at colleges and universities in Western Washington is sponsored by Planned Parenthood and designed to make you proud of practicing safe sex.

The condom wrappers have a QR code – a type of barcode that when scanned by your smartphone’s camera can do all sorts of things.

In the case of the wheredidyou wearit.com-sponsored condoms, the QR code will be used to broadcast where and when you practiced safe sex.

After scanning the QR code, your location and a brief description of how you used the contraception will be posted on wheredidyouwearit.com for all to see.

“A 20-something guy and a girl whose relationship is nonexistent and have already talked about safe sex and STDs used a condom in the kitchen because no one wants an STD. It was great – can’t wait for round 2,” a post from the Belltown area read.

Planned Parenthood said the safe-sex social networking site is not looking to promote sex but instead destigmatize condom use.
