In brief: Volunteer Zumba instructors needed

SPOKANE VALLEY – Volunteers are needed to help Spokane Valley residents Carrie Kekahuna and Angela Durbin continue to offer free Zumba classes to mothers and other area women who need to have some fun time for themselves.

The classes are at the Intersection Church, 905 N. McDonald Road, on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:30 p.m. Free child care is provided. Approximately 15 to 20 new volunteers are needed to add another day of Zumba, along with volunteers for child care. The volunteers would rotate between the three days.

City Hall reps to hit Valley mall

SPOKANE VALLEY – If you have ever had questions about how things work in Spokane Valley, check out “City Hall in the Mall” Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

City representatives will set up tables on the second floor of the Spokane Valley Mall near the food court to answer questions. They will also have information available on upcoming street projects. Mayor Tom Towey and City Council members will be on hand at various times to talk to citizens.

McGruff the Crime Dog will be there to visit with kids and there will be information about upcoming summer programs and activities for children.

Hunger-fighting challenge under way

SPOKANE VALLEY – During March and April, Spokane Valley Partners, 10814 E. Broadway Ave., will be collecting cash, checks and food donations to add to the Feinstein Challenge, a fundraiser in its 15th year put together by Alan Shawn Feinstein, of Cranston, R.I.

Feinstein gives away $1 million each year to fight hunger in the United States. The challenge is the more money donated to the selected agency, the more of his $1 million he will donate to it.

Nonperishable food donations may be dropped off between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
