Mike, beloved husband of Rachael Anne Michaels, quietly passed away on February 22, 2012 in Spokane, WA.

He was born on June 16, 1925 to Charles and Sylvia Michaels in Elma, WA.

He is survived by his two sons, David E. (Nancy) Michaels of Elk, WA, Larry A.

(Debbie) Michaels of Anacortes, WA; and one daughter, Cathie Y. Hannaford of Spokane, WA; and six grandchildren, Tamra Nelson, Toni Craig, Thomas Michaels, Andrea Phelps, Scott Melcher and Susan Ohlen.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Charon Melcher; grandson, Jeremy Michaels and his first wife, Beatrice Ruth Michaels.

Laurence served in the US Army, South Pacific, during WWII.

Mike retired as the Battalion Chief and Training Instructor for the Spokane Fire Department.

He held his fellow firefighters in highest esteem for the 30 years he worked with them and continued to now, 36 years after his retirement.

Laurence enjoyed hunting, fishing and the great outdoors.

A summertime gathering will be held at Loon Lake for family and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 27, 2012, 11:00 am at Ball & Dodd Funeral Home.

Interment Fairmount Memorial Park.
