Obituary: Scott, Dwain Norman “Cork”
SCOTT, Dwain Norman “Cork”
Born July 25, 1944, in Colfax, WA, to Archie McNeilly Scott and Wilma May Scott (Cleghorn), Cork passed away February 16, 2012, in Spokane Valley, WA. Cork graduated from Freeman High School in 1962. He dairyed and farmed the family farm for several years. Cork never met a dog he didn’t like, but the same couldn’t necessarily be said for all dairy cows. He was proud that he served as a Spokane County reserve deputy officer (CDs) for several years, and also volunteered for Fire District 8. In later years, Cork worked security for Group Health and UPS where he made many friends. He was known for his strong work ethic, and in his younger days, there were few people that could keep up with him. He was also known as a true and loyal friend to many. Cork was always looked up to from his nieces and nephews as a big-hearted, hard-working uncle. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Sharron. He is survived by his sister, Linda (Dan) Koback; brother, Doug (Jennifer) Scott; nephew, Damon; nieces, Danelle (Eric), Nicole, Katie (Matt), Sarah, and Kelsey; great-nephews, David, Dakota, and Tanner; great-nieces, Taylor and Abigail; and his faithful dogs, Sassy and Taz. A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 26, 2012, at 2:00 PM, at Opportunity Presbyterian Church, 202 N. Pines, Spokane Valley. The family would like to thank the staff at Sunshine Gardens and Hospice for taking such good care of Cork in his final days. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society or SCRAPS.
