Freeman girls remain perfect

Newport proved you can slow down the Freeman Scotties on Friday night, but there’s still no proof they can be beaten.

The Scotties, who came in with an average margin of victory of 23.5 points, finished the game strong and beat the Grizzlies 48-41 in Northeast A League play in Newport.

Alyssa Maine scored 13 points for Freeman (10-0, 2-0), which outscored Newport 14-7 in the final five minutes.

Taylor Lewis and Miranda Frederick combined for 25 points for the Grizzlies (8-3, 0-2), who lost their second straight.

Colville 49, Riverside 44: Ashley Knight scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as the Indians (6-5, 2-0) held off a fourth-quarter rally by the Rams (5-7, 0-2) and won in Colville. Courtney Davis tossed in a game-high 20 points for Riverside.

Lakeside 68, Chewelah 29: Tayler Flemming scored 18 points and Ashley Cook-Cox added 16 points and eight steals as the Eagles (7-5, 2-0) routed the Cougars (2-10, 0-2) in the game at Nine Mile Falls. Lakeside shot 54 percent from the field and outrebounded Chewelah 38-18. Ryann Richmond scored 14 for the Cougars.

Great Northern

Deer Park 51, Pullman 42: Tessa Heins scored 19 points and the Stags (6-4, 2-0) held the visiting Greyhounds (2-7, 0-2) scoreless in the third quarter and pulled away. Emily Drake and Jenny Nakata combined for 27 points for Pullman.

Cheney 44, West Valley 36: Allie Brown scored 25 points and grabbed 15 rebounds as the Blackhawks (4-5, 1-0) pulled away in the fourth in defeating the visiting Eagles (3-6, 0-2). Jenae Martin scored a team-high 15 points for West Valley.

East Valley 49, Medical Lake 17: The Knights’ suffocating defense in the second half led a dominating win over the visiting Cardinals (1-9, 0-2). Kendra Morscheck had nine points and eight steals for the Knights (5-4, 2-0).

Bi-County 2B League

Davenport 42, St. George’s 39: Miranda Mielke scored 30 points on 11-for-21 shooting and the Gorillas (5-5, 3-4) clipped the host Dragons (3-6, 2-3). Mielke also made three 3-pointers and converted 5 of 7 free throws.

Reardan 64, Liberty 22: The Indians (11-0, 7-0) came out strong in the first quarter and eased past the host Lancers (0-10, 0-7). Katy Burge scored 16 points and Lauren Schulz added 11 for Reardan, which started the game on a 24-3 run.

Bi-County 1B League

Odessa-Harrington 54, Valley Christian 14: The Titans (2-7, 1-0) dominated from the get-go and stormed past the visiting Panthers (4-6, 0-1) in a league opener. Chelsea Fisher, Cydnee Kieffer and Jessie Whitaker scored eight points apiece for Odessa-Harrington. Lindy Riggan had 11 points and nine boards for Valley Christian.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 79, Wilbur-Creston 29: Madeline Isaak and Karlee Martin combined for 18 points in the second quarter and the Warriors (8-2, 1-0) dominated the visiting Wildcats (2-5, 0-1). Isaak finished with 22 points and eight assists, Martin scored 19 points and Allison Fox added 13.

Panorama League

Selkirk 47, Wellpinit 38: Courtney Holter scored 23 points for the Rangers (9-3, 4-2), who dominated the fourth quarter in a win over the host Redskins (2-7, 2-3). Imani Antone scored 12 points and Dani Flett added 10 for Wellpinit.

Southeast 1B League

Tekoa-Oakesdale 53, Pomeroy 52: The Pirates’ comeback attempt fell short in a loss to the visiting Nighthawks (6-3, 3-2). Mattie Jo-Johnson led three players in double figures with 14 points for Tekoa-Oakesdale. Pomeroy (2-6, 1-4) was led by Mackenzie Monahan’s 20 points.

St. John-Endicott 53, LaCrosse-Washtucna 35: Emily Jones scored 10 points and Rachel Gfeller pulled down 13 rebounds as the Eagles (5-3, 3-2) ran past the host Tigercats (2-8, 1-4). Logan Harter tallied a game-high 16 points for LaCrosse-Washtucna.

Colton 72, Rosalia 27: The Wildcats (9-0, 5-0) dominated from the opening tip and routed the visiting Spartans (9-1, 4-1) in a battle for first place.

Colton’s Haley Moser led four players in double figures with 15 points.

Garfield-Palouse 59, Touchet 18: Kaycie Adair scored 19 of her game-high 21 points in the first half as the Vikings (6-2, 3-2) crushed the host Indians (2-6, 0-5). Touchet committed 39 turnovers.

Nonleague

Lakeland 56, Bonners Ferry 38: The Hawks (9-6) went on a 10-0 run to end the first half en route to beating the host Badgers (5-6). Josie Coder and Cieana Close scored 16 points apiece for Lakeland.

Priest River 51, Kettle Falls 20: The Spartans (8-4) took control with a dominating second quarter and beat the visiting Bulldogs (3-7).

Karly Douglas scored a game-high nine points and Melissa Trost had 13 rebounds and three steals for Priest River.

Kellogg 48, Wallace 22: McKenna Stewart had 15 points, five rebounds and four assists as the Wildcats (7-5) routed the host Miners (2-6).

Kenzie Dire led Wallace with 13 points.

Clark Fork 59, Kootenai 23: Tess Vogel had 14 points and 11 rebounds and Celeste Komanec added eight points and 11 assists as the Wampus Cats (6-2) routed the visiting Warriors (2-5).

Inchelium 56, Curlew 40: Olivia Williams scored 20 points and Maraia Zacherle had 16 points, 13 rebounds and five steals as the Hornets (5-4) topped the visiting Cougars (2-8). Lindsey Gibson led Curlew with 11 points.

Columbia 59, Republic 24: Elizabeth Larrew scored 20 points and Mackenzie Parrow added 16 as the Lions (11-1) routed the visiting Tigers (8-4). Brianna Brown scored 10 points for Republic.
