In brief: McMullen elected to Board of Education

Former Central Valley School Board member Cynthia McMullen has been elected to the State Board of Education.

McMullen, who attended her last school board meeting in CV in November, was elected after a runoff election for Eastern Region 1 in early December. McMullen defeated Steve Dal Porto.

She served the Central Valley School District for 24 years.

She will start her first term Monday.

West Sullivan bridge to be shut for repairs

SPOKANE VALLEY – As you plan your commute for Monday morning, keep in mind that the west Sullivan Road bridge will shut down for repairs on Monday.

Beginning at 6 a.m., traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction as barriers are moved. Around noon, all traffic will be shifted to the east bridge that normally carries northbound traffic. There will still only be one lane of traffic in each direction.

While repairs are under way the weight limits on southbound traffic will not apply.

Open house planned at CenterPlace

SPOKANE VALLEY – If you are thinking of hosting an event in the Valley area soon, head over to CenterPlace for an open house Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. The event facility at 2426 N. Discovery Place has classrooms, an auditorium and a Great Room that can seat 500 people available to reserve.
