Spokane police investigate assault of 3-month-old girl

Police are investigating after a 3-month-old Spokane girl was treated for a broken bone, skull fractures and bruises Friday. Medics called police on Friday after treating the girl for injuries they believe were consistent with abuse, police said today. The girl’s parents brought her in for an arm injury, but doctors determined the baby also had scratches and bruises on her face and forehead, as well as multiple bone fractures, including skull fractures, police said today. Medics also saw signs of previous injuries. Major crimes detectives obtained a search warrant for the baby’s home at 123 E. Baldwin Ave. to look for evidence of the assault. A small marijuana grow also was discovered there, police said. The investigation is ongoing, and police have notified Child Protective Services.
