Three Spokane runners finished in the top 11 or better in an international field at the Great Edinburgh Cross Country event in Scotland on Saturday.

Katie Knight of North Central High School placed fourth in the junior women’s field of 71 runners with a time of 15 minutes, 23 seconds over 4 kilometers. The winner was Emelia Gorecka of Great Britain in 14:48.

Andrew Gardner of Mead HS placed fifth in the junior men’s field of 71 with a time of 20:11 over 6 kilometers. Nathan Weitz, who ran for Shadle Park last season while attending The Oaks Academy, placed 11th in 20:33. The winner was Kirubel Erassa from the U.S. in 19:56.

Gymnastics

Courtney Bray’s strong floor routine led her to the all-around title for the Mt. Spokane Wildcats, but Shadle Park got a first-place performance in the vault from Alana Norman to lead the Highlanders to the team victory at Rogers. Lewis and Clark was third and the host Pirates fourth. Bray also won the balance beam while LC’s Lily Hoch took the uneven bars.

Boys basketball

Greg Wynecoop scored 22 points and added 16 rebounds and five steals to help host Wellpinit overwhelm Columbia 78-35 and remain undefeated in the Panorama League at 7-0 (8-5 overall).

The Redskins used their height to great advantage, grabbing 48 rebounds, including 22 on the offensive boards. Brodie Ford added 17 points and AJ Kieffer 15.

Dominick Marquez scored 20 points for the Lions (3-9, 2-5).

Girls basketball

Columbia used the inside play of Lindsay Loe and Mackenzie Power to take a big first-half lead on its way to a 61-20 win over host Wellpinit (3-8, 3-4) in the Panorama League. Loe had 14 of her 20 points and Parrow 10 of her 12 in the first half as the Lions led 38-11 at halftime. Krista Colvin added 15 points for the first-place Lions (13-1, 7-0).
