CdA’s Higbie hits winner

Ty Higbie hit a 3-pointer as time expired, giving Coeur d’Alene a 51-48 upset of Post Falls in Inland Empire League 5A play Friday night in Coeur d’Alene.

Higbie and Deon Watson finished with 19 points apiece for the Vikings. Watson, who made three 3s, eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for his career.

Marcus Colbert scored 20 points for Post Falls.

The Vikings (9-3, 3-0) remained atop the IEL 5A standings. PF (11-2, 1-2) fell to third place.

Lake City 62, Lewiston 48: J.J. Winger scored 15 points and Mitch Bevacqua added 11 points and eight rebounds as the Timberwolves (8-6, 2-1) beat the visiting Bengals (6-8, 0-3). Justin Pratt handed out nine assists for Lake City. Lewiston’s Rafa Hewett-Steiger scored 13 points.

Great Northern

Medical Lake 49, Cheney 40: Ismael Teshome, Austin Garza and Adam Paulson combined for 39 points as the Cardinals (6-7, 3-2) beat the host Blackhawks (6-6, 1-3). Jon Miller and John Gingrinch scored 10 apiece and Evan Cook had eight assists for Cheney.

Pullman 54, Clarkston 49: Corey Langerveld scored 24 points and Austin Drake added 14 as the Greyhounds (12-1, 5-0) edged the visiting Bantams (7-4, 1-3). Drew Adams led Clarkston with a game-high 28 points.

West Valley 49, East Valley 46 (OT): Jordan Grossman hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give the Eagles (10-1, 3-1) a win over the visiting Knights (7-5, 1-3). At the end of regulation, East Valley’s Tanner McGuire made a 3-pointer to send the game into overtime. Jake Love finished with 20 points for WV.

Northeast A

Newport 69, Riverside 61: Jake Wiley scored 34 points on 12-of-24 shooting, including 10 of 13 from the foul line, as the Grizzlies (9-5, 3-2) moved into a three-way tie for second place with a win over the visiting Rams (4-11, 0-5). Jeron Konkright had 18 points and Spenser Douglas added 15 for Newport. Jordan Wood had 28 points and eight rebounds and Tyler Axtell added 19 points and seven assists for Riverside.

Freeman 61, Lakeside 40: Kellen Miller had 21 points, five assists and four steals as the Scotties (9-6, 4-1) beat the visiting Eagles (7-8, 2-3). Cody Unfred had 13 points and six assists and Mitch Vander Linden chipped in 12 points for Freeman. Lakeside was led by Conner Moffatt’s 17 points.

Bi-County 2B

Northwest Christian 84, Kettle Falls 27: The unbeaten Crusaders (13-0, 9-0) jumped ahead by 35 points in the first half and thoroughly dominated the host Bulldogs (2-11, 0-9). Reuben Clark had 24 points and 10 rebounds and Kwinn Hanson added 18 points and 12 boards to lead Northwest Christian.

Colfax 59, St. George’s 44: Justin Berarducci and Jay Hart combined for 14 points in the fourth quarter as the Bulldogs (8-3, 6-1) stormed past the host Dragons (7-5, 5-3). Berarducci finished with a game-high 23 points and 16 rebounds. Colfax outscored St. George’s 24-10 in the fourth. Mark Kenney, Erik Muelheims and Karl Muelheims combined for 33 points for the Dragons.

Liberty 73, Springdale 33: The Lancers (5-7, 3-6) held the Chargers (3-9, 1-7) scoreless in the first quarter and cruised to the win at Liberty. Darien Rhoads had 20 points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Lancers.

Bi-County 1B League

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 74, St. Michael’s 43: Thunder Wellhausen and Derek Isaak each scored 21 points as Almira/Coulee-Hartline (11-1, 3-0) routed host St. Michael’s (4-7, 0-2). Gabe Durazo scored 30 points and Chris Shelley added 16 for St. Michael’s.

Odessa-Harrington 63, Wilbur-Creston 52: Jared King led four players in double figures with 13 points as the Titans (7-5, 1-2) beat the host Wildcats (5-6, 0-2). Wilbur-Creston was led by Joe Rosman’s 12 points.

Selkirk 63, Inchelium 19: Nick Gardner led four players in double figures with 12 points as the Rangers (6-9, 5-3) cruised to a win over the visiting Hornets (0-12, 0-7) at Ione. Dominic Cain added 11 points and eight assists and Beau Taylor and Trevor Grant each added 10 points for Selkirk.

Wellpinit 81, Curlew 27: Brodie Ford scored a game-high 23 points and the Redskins (9-5, 8-0) whipped the host Cougars (2-11, 0-6). A.J. Kieffer had 12 points and James Best and Kyle McCrea added 11 apiece for Wellpinit, which led 57-17 at halftime.

Cusick 55, Columbia 42: Alec Bluff had a triple double with 24 points, 11 rebounds and 10 steals as the Panthers (6-7, 5-2) topped the visiting Lions (3-10, 2-6). Dustin Wyborney led Columbia with 16 points.

Southeast 1B

Rosalia 45, LaCrosse-Washtucna 42: Damian Loucks scored 19 points and Craig Nelson added 14 as the Spartans (7-6, 4-3) edged the visiting Tigercats (5-8, 3-4). LaCrosse-Washtucna’s Jake Aune missed a 3-pointer as time expired. Jed Zimmer scored 16 points and Justin Wargo added 12 for the Tigercats.

St. John-Endicott 55, Pomeroy 50: Cole McCanna scored 18 points and Joey Kucklick chipped in 13 as the Eagles (7-4, 6-1) edged the host Pirates (5-6, 3-4). Riley Bott had 13 points and Tanner Feider and Mitch Ruchert added 10 apiece for Pomeroy.

Colton 53, Garfield-Palouse 39: Dustin Patchen had 18 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks to lead the Wildcats (10-1, 7-0) past the host Vikings (3-8, 3-4). Jesse Lopez scored a team-high 16 points for Garfield-Palouse.

North Star

Wallace 71, Kootenai 38: Tony Branz scored 25 and grabbed nine rebounds as the Miners (4-6, 2-1) pulled away in the second half and routed the visiting Warriors (4-6, 2-1). Andrew Brackebusch added 20 points and 10 boards for Wallace, which outscored Kootenai by 22 points in the second half. Brandon Carman led the Warriors with 11 points.

Central Washington 2B

Lake Roosevelt 72, Oroville 29: Ty Egbert had 30 points and eight blocks as the Raiders (8-4) dominated the visiting Hornets at Coulee Dam. Jesse Adkins added 13 points and Kramer Carlson handed out 10 assists for Lake Roosevelt.

Nonleague

Northport 48, Republic 35: The Mustangs (12-2, 8-1) jumped ahead by 12 points in the first and beat the host Tigers (2-13, 0-3). Frederik Verhaeghe scored 15 points – 12 in the first half – for Northport. Republic was led by Dan Slagle’s 11 points.
