School levy important

I would like to strongly encourage all of you who have benefited from the opportunity of an education, those of you raising children who are gaining from academic and social experiences in public education, those of you who believe in what an education can do for a young person’s future as well as the betterment of our community, and especially those of you who have not yet had these kinds of connections, to please take a moment to do your research, support, and vote yes on the upcoming maintenance and operations levy in our local public school districts, particularly in the Mead School District.

I grew up in the Mead School District, taught in Spokane Public Schools for several years and now, most importantly, I am raising my children in the Mead School District. I cannot express enough the exceptional experience my children have had with outstanding teachers at the elementary level all the way through high school. Not only does Mead School District provide high academic expectations, it offers excellent extracurricular opportunities such as band, choir, orchestra and numerous intramural sports.

The upcoming maintenance and operation levy directly impacts whether these rich academic and extracurricular experiences will remain. Thank you!
