Gonzaga women rally past Santa Clara

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Senior Katelan Redmon scored a career-high 32 points to lead the Gonzaga Bulldogs to an 81-68 West Coast Conference women’s basketball victory over Santa Clara Thursday night.

Redmon, whose previous high was 28, made 14 of 21 shots from the field and 4 of 7 from the line as the Bulldogs improved to 5-1 in the WCC and 16-3 overall.

“Katelan came into the office after our loss to Saint Mary’s (on Saturday) and talked to the coaching staff about how she was going to work hard and do everything she could do to make this season end well,” coach Kelly Graves said.

“She had terrific practices this week and tonight was astounding.”

Redmon became the 12th Gonzaga player to score 30 or more points in a game.

Gonzaga trailed by one at the half.

After Gonzaga went on an 8-2 run to lead 31-24 with 7:33 remaining in the first half, the Broncos nailed four 3-pointers, including Ashley Armstrong’s 3 as the shot clock expired to give Santa Clara its first lead of the game at 36-35 with 2:28 left in the half.
