No choice in the matter
Vince Roland (“Homosexual agenda at work” – Jan. 14) asserts that “a gay lifestyle is a choice.” I must ask, Roland, when did you choose your sexual attraction? Did you look around one day in middle school and think “boys are cute, but I will choose a girl”? Did you ponder the two genders and realize an attraction to one would give you a life of inclusion and legal benefits?
Did you ask your family and friends which type of relationship they would most accept? Did you go to religious leaders and question them about which decision will allow you membership in their church? Did you decide because you wanted to be able to put a photograph of your family on your desk at work without hearing whispers behind your back? Did you hope someday to have a wedding and knew which choice would make that possible?
Of course not. As all of us do, you followed your heart and your life unfolded. There is simply no logical argument against equal marriage rights.
Such laws will simply provide emotional and economic stability for many of our friends and neighbors, and I assure you they will cause you no harm.
