We’re in this together

Let’s see if I have this straight. In our economy, people make stuff, then put it up for sale, then it is bought. The cycle starts again with the money made selling stuff. So the people making stuff need to care about the people buying stuff; no buy, no sell, no make.

So Mitt Romney didn’t care or even know about the people he creatively destroyed when he bought and sold factories, so long as he and his stockholders made money at Bain Capital. Taking wealth out of businesses, especially when that results in their bankruptcy, differs from theft. It is legal.

We expect government to care about people, but business cares only that it is profitable. Aren’t we all in this boat together? Don’t we all need to care about whether it floats? If it sinks, we all drown, don’t we?
