Med-Van missed

Med-Van is a service that was financed by various hospitals through Inland Northwest Health Services. It provided free transportation to doctors’ appointments for people who did not have friends or relatives to transport them.

If you had a procedure that required anesthesia, they would transport you from the doctor’s office to the van in a wheelchair. People who had chemotherapy or dialysis could also be helped this way. There are other alternatives, but they all cost money that seniors and others may not have and none provides the service that Med-Van did.

Now, because Deaconess and Valley Medical Center have withdrawn their support, Med-Van no longer operates.

Thanks a lot, Community Health Systems, for another disservice to our community!
