Weisner leads Clarkston to victory over East Valley in girls basketball

Jamie Weisner scored 10 of her game-high 31 points in the fourth quarter as Clarkston stayed perfect in the Great Northern League with a 66-54 girls basketball win over second-place East Valley Saturday in Clarkston.

Weisner also had 15 points and four steals.

K.C. McConnell chipped in 20 points for the Bantams (12-1, 6-0), who built a 15-point first-half advantage.

The Knights (8-6, 4-2) were led by Brooklyn Bellomy’s 14 points.

Bi-County 2B

Northwest Christian 55, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 31: Hannah Dietzen scored 20 points and Courtney Gray added 12 points and nine rebounds as the Crusaders (13-3, 10-2) routed the visiting Broncos (7-7, 4-7). Northwest Christian outscored Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 31-14 in the second half. Davi Killian tossed in a team-high eight points for the Broncos.

Davenport 65, Kettle Falls 52: Miranda Mielke exploded for 35 points, 10 steals, seven rebounds and five assists as the Gorillas (7-6, 5-5) beat the visiting Bulldogs (3-11, 2-8). Kylie Hudkins-Shelton chipped in 10 points and nine rebounds for Davenport, which forced Kettle Falls into 22 turnovers. Josie Stanard had 17 points and Serena Pounds added nine points and 11 boards for the Bulldogs.

St. George’s 36, Liberty 20: The Dragons (6-8, 5-5) got out to a quick start and cruised past the host Lancers (0-14, 0-11). Alex Wert had 10 points and Brenna Russell added eight for St. George’s, which outscored Liberty 13-5 in the first quarter.

Panorama League

Selkirk 54, Curlew 27: Courtney Holter had 27 points and 11 rebounds as the host Rangers (14-4, 8-3) raced past the Cougars (3-13, 1-8) in Ione. Katie Couch added 13 points and 11 rebounds for Selkirk, which outscored Curlew 17-5 in the second quarter to take a 15-point halftime lead. Katie Wimpari tallied a team-high 12 points for Curlew.

Republic 44, Cusick 38: Alyssa Stout scored nine of her 21 points in the fourth and added 16 rebounds and seven steals as the Tigers (12-5, 4-0) clipped the visiting Panthers (9-6, 5-4). Republic rallied in the second half to erase a 10-point halftime deficit. Kacie Lane added 10 points for the Tigers. Cusick was led by Andrea Heinen’s 18 points.

Southeast 1B

Pomeroy 45, LaCrosse-Washtucna 20: McKenzie Uto, Savannah Ruark and Torrie Koller scored 11 points apiece as the Pirates (3-9, 2-7) took control in the third quarter and routed the visiting Tigercats (2-13, 1-8). Pomeroy’s 17-2 third-quarter run all but sealed the deal. Anne Fleming led LaCrosse-Washtucna with seven points.

Rosalia 55, Tekoa-Oakesdale 45: Briann Maley scored 11 of her game-high 19 points in the first as the Spartans (13-2, 8-1) jumped ahead early and beat the host Nighthawks (9-5, 6-3). Mackenzie Reddish also scored 19 points for Rosalia, which led 32-13 at halftime. Alex Overton scored 15 points for Tekoa-Oakesdale.

Bi-County 1B

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 50, Wilbur-Creston 19: Madeline Isaak and Miranda Porterfield combined to scored 29 points and lead the Warriors (12-3, 4-0) past the host Wildcats (5-8, 2-3). Kodi Noggles added 10 points and 13 rebounds for Almira/Coulee-Hartline.

Odessa-Harrington 40, Valley Christian 15: Jessie Whitaker scored 13 points as the Titans (7-9, 4-1) came alive in the second half and cruised past the host Panthers (4-8, 0-3).

North Star League

Lakeside 54, Kootenai 40: Sydney Wakan had 12 points and 10 rebounds as the host Knights (4-5, 3-0) overpowered the Warriors (3-7, 1-1) in Plummer. Lakeside scored 32 of its points in the paint. Kirsten Scheffelmaier led Kootenai with 14 points.

Nonleague

Newport 62, Timberlake 53: Miranda Frederick made all six of her free-throw attempts and finished with 20 points, six rebounds, six assists and five steals as the Grizzlies (11-6) held on to beat the host Tigers (7-8) at Spirit Lake. Courtney Wiese had 19 points and Taylor Lewis chipped in 14 for Newport. Timberlake was led by Kara Wenstrom’s 20 points.
