Shock sign linebacker/defensive end Yenga

 

Former Southern Methodist star Youri Yenga signed with the Spokane Shock on Tuesday.

Yenga, a defensive end and linebacker, was a two-time All-Conference USA selection. During his four-year career, Yenga had 139 tackles, 13 sacks and forced seven fumbles. He signed with the Atlanta Falcons as a free agent in 2011.

Swimming

University of Idaho freshman Rachel Millet was named the Western Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week after winning three events last week at New Mexico State.

A 2011 graduate of Ferris High School, Millet won the 50-, 100- and 200-yard freestyle events last week. She was also part of the Vandals’ winning 400 relay team.

Tennis

Eastern Washington University sophomore James Russell was named the Big Sky Conference men’s tennis Player of the Week.

Russell earned a doubles win with partner Mario Navarro on Saturday against Saint Mary’s and won a singles match against Boise State on Sunday.
