CORNWALL, Bernice Mary
(Brown)
1924-2012

Long time Mount Hope resident Bernice Cornwall passed away on January 22, 2012 in Spokane, WA.

She was born on June 1, 1924 in Casper, WY to William and Lilly Brown.

The family moved to Belle Fourche, SD where she grew up.

In 1942 she graduated valedictorian from Belle Fourche High School.

She attended Mount Saint Scholastica College for one year before moving to Spokane in 1943.

Here she lived at the Isabella Club in Browne’s Addition, graduated from Kinman Business School and worked as an office manager for three years.

In 1948 she married Donald Cornwall and moved to Mount Hope where they farmed for sixty years.

In later years, they enjoyed traveling, summers at their cabin at Bayview on Lake Pend Oreille and winters in La Quinta, CA.

She was a long time member of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Service League.

She is preceded in death by her brothers, Jean and Lon Brown.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Donald Cornwall; children, Kristine Cornwall, James Cornwall and David Cornwall, daughter-in-law Jody Cornwall, grandson Scott Cornwall and granddaughter Mikayla Cornwall.


A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 9:00 AM at Saint Peter’s Catholic Church, 3520 East 18th Avenue, Spokane, WA.

In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to the Mount Hope Cemetery Association, 21331 South Arnold Road, Fairfield, WA 99012.
