Renew levy for East Valley

An important vote to renew the maintenance and operations (M&O) levy for East Valley schools is coming up. Whether you have students in school or not, I believe we can all agree that investing in the next generation has always been paramount in our district.

I believe the simple fact we have never failed a levy vote in the history of our district proves this. Furthermore, given that the M&O levy provides almost 30 percent of the district’s daily operating budget, failure to pass its renewal would be devastating to the programs it pays for. The loss of programs that teach leadership and teamwork, like athletics and band, would be unimaginable. The potential of losing our state and regionally recognized arts program, or our rejuvenated Advanced Placement programs, should be reason enough to vote yes.

The faculty at East Valley does incredible things with our M&O levy dollars and we should not take such amazing programs for granted. Nor should we assume others will vote for us. I urge every member of the East Valley community to vote yes and renew our continued investment in our children’s future. Vote yes and renew the M&O levy.
