Obituary: Hunter, H. C. “Chuck”

HUNTER,
H. C. “Chuck”
1920-2012
(Age 91)

Chuck Hunter was born on February 2, 1920 in Raymond MN to Lester E. and Morillda (McBride) Hunter.

As a young child he moved with his family to Ft.

Dodge, IA and then to Woodland, WA where he grew up.

After graduating from Woodland High School in 1937, Chuck attended Washington State College (now WSU) to study animal husbandry.

It is also where he met the love of his life, Lois Pintler.

World War II interrupted his studies and Chuck joined the U.S. Navy in December of 1941 and was stationed at Lakehurst NJ.

Lois took the train to New York City and they were married there on June 24, 1943.
Chuck was injured in a blimp accident and after his time of duty he and Lois returned to Spokane to continue working and raising their three children.

He spent some years as a sheet metal worker and then became the business agent for that local union.

In 1961, he began a career at the Spokane Vocational and Technical School (now SCC) and served as director of the various night school programs.
After retirement, Chuck and Lois built their dream home on the golf course at Avondale in Hayden Lake, ID and enjoyed making many new friends and playing lots of golf before returning to Spokane in 2001.

The past 12 years were spent at Courtland Place and Moran Vista Assisted Living.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Harriett (1918); brothers, Harry and Harvey; and his most-loved wife of 68 years, Lois in 2011.

He is survived by sons, Woody (Renae) Hunter, Jeff (Diane) Hunter; and daughter, Jody (Mike) Hardin; grandchildren, Derek (Elana) Hunter, Patrick (Jenn) Hunter, Grant (Kate) Hunter, Dana Hunter, Scott (Kim) Hardin and Craig Hardin.

He is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Sebastian, Asia and Cade Hardin and Audrey Hunter; as well as sister-in-law, Nadine Hunter; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to express a special thank-you to Linda Ann Johnson for all of her loving care to both Chuck and Lois.
A private family burial service will precede a memorial service at a later date.

Memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of Spokane.
Arrangements entrusted to Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe St. in Spokane.
