Shadle Park turns back Tigers

Shadle Park used excellent free-throw shooting and held off a Lewis and Clark rally in the second half for a 57-55 Greater Spokane League girls basketball win Saturday night at Lewis and Clark.

With the win, the Highlanders (10-6, 9-5) took over sole possession of fourth place in the GSL and are a half-game behind Gonzaga Prep (11-4, 9-4) and University (11-4, 9-4).

Aleisha Hathaway made 15 of 17 free throws and finished with 20 points for Shadle Park, which made 30 of 38 total free throws.

Nakia Arquette tallied a game-high 25 points for Lewis and Clark (8-8, 8-6).

Great Northern League

Clarkston 56, Medical Lake 34: Jamie Weisner scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Bantams (15-1, 8-0) got out to a quick start and beat the visiting Cardinals (1-15, 0-8). Cassi Jo Nilles led Medical Lake with 16 points.

Intermountain League

Timberlake 44, Bonners Ferry 35: Kelly Madsen scored 15 points as the Tigers (10-8, 5-2) took control in the second quarter and beat the visiting Badgers (7-10, 3-3) at Spirit Lake. Timberlake made six free throws in the final minute and a half to seal the win. Jordan Porter led Bonners Ferry with 16 points.

Priest River 49, St. Maries 31: The Spartans (11-5, 5-0) went on a 14-0 third-quarter run and raced past the host Lumberjacks (4-11, 0-5). Steffie Pavey had 17 points for Priest River, which held St. Maries to 2-of-20 shooting in the second half. The Lumberjacks got eight points from Dusti Huddleston.

Northeast A League

Freeman 56, Lakeside 28: Alyssa Maine scored 13 of her game-high 19 points in the second quarter as the Scotties (20-0, 10-0) overcame a slow start and whipped the host Eagles (10-10, 5-5) in Nine Mile Falls. Freeman was outscored 10-1 in the first, but responded with a 25-4 second-quarter run. Jocelyn Cook-Cox led Lakeside with 16 points and nine rebounds.

Colville 59, Chewelah 18: Ashley Knight had 17 points and nine rebounds as the Indians (14-6, 8-2) dominated the first half and eased past the visiting Cougars (2-18, 0-10). Colville outscored Chewelah 26-1 in the first half. Sydnie Katzer tallied a team-high eight points for the Cougars.

Newport 57, Riverside 35: Miranda Frederick scored 18 points as the Grizzlies (14-6, 5-5) took control in the third quarter and beat the host Rams (7-13, 2-8). Taylor Lewis and Holly Malsbury added 12 points each for Newport, which made 4 of 5 from beyond the arc in the decisive third quarter. Courtney Davis led the Rams with 14 points, 14 rebounds, six steals and four blocks.

Bi-County 2B League

Northwest Christian 46, Davenport 34: Courtney Gray had 11 points and Chanel Knight added 10 as the Crusaders (14-3, 11-2) topped the visiting Gorillas (8-8, 6-7). Miranda Mielke scored 12 of her game-high 18 points in the fourth quarter for Davenport.

Colfax 69, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 31: Amelia Bruya led three players in double figures with 18 points as the Bulldogs (10-6, 9-3) beat the visiting Broncos (7-9, 4-9). Andrea Bennett had 11 points for Lind-Ritzville/Sprague.

St. George’s 45, Kettle Falls 22: Brenna Russell had 20 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks as the Dragons (8-9, 7-6) routed the visiting Bulldogs (5-12, 4-9). Alex Wert added 11 points and 10 boards for St. George’s.

Reardan 71, Springdale 19: Kelsey Moos and Zari Reeves combined for 35 points as the Indians (17-0, 13-0) overwhelmed the host Chargers (4-13, 4-9). Bailey Brown led Springdale with nine points.

Bi-County 1B League

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 65, St. Michael’s 12: Kodi Noggles had 16 points and 13 rebounds, and Madeline Isaak added 16 points, seven steals and six assists as Almira/Coulee-Hartline (14-3, 6-0) routed visiting St. Michael’s (3-11, 0-5).

Odessa-Harrington 40, Wilbur-Creston 33: Jessie Whitaker scored 16 points as the Titans (8-11, 5-2) edged the visiting Wildcats (6-10, 3-4). Odessa-Harrington forced Wilbur-Creston into 32 turnovers.

Panorama League

Columbia 70, Inchelium 21: Lindsay Loe and Elizabeth Larrew combined for 43 points as the Lions (19-1, 13-0) wrapped up regular-season play with a rout of the host Hornets (7-10, 3-9). Inchelium, which placed fifth in league, will play the Bi-County League’s fourth seed for a spot in the district tournament.

Wellpinit 49, Northport 15: Dani Flett scored 12 points and Sami Jo Parr added 10 as the Redskins (7-12, 6-7) wrapped up fourth place with a win over the visiting Mustangs (1-17, 1-11).

Cusick 58, Curlew 19: Andrea Heinen had 13 points, nine rebounds and seven steals as the Panthers (12-6, 8-4) routed the visiting Cougars (4-14, 2-10). Haleigh Gibson scored nine points for Curlew, which was limited to three second-half points.

Republic 34, Selkirk 31: Alyssa Stout scored on a drive to the hoop and Brianna Brown hit two free throws in the final 35 seconds to lift the Tigers (13-6, 5-1) past the visiting Rangers (15-5, 9-4). Stout had a game-high 17 points and 13 rebounds for Republic.

Southeast 1B League

Tekoa-Oakesdale 68, Pomeroy 42: Kimberly Groom led three players in double figures with 20 points as the Nighthawks (11-6, 8-4) routed the visiting Pirates (4-11, 3-8). Pomeroy was led by Mackenzie Monahan and Savannah Ruark, who combined for 22 points.

Garfield-Palouse 77, Touchet 27: Kaycie Adair scored 29 points and Taylor Redman added 18 as the Vikings (8-6, 5-6) overwhelmed the host Indians (4-11, 1-10). Garfield-Palouse outscored Touchet 34-6 in the second half.

Colton 63, Rosalia 26: Haley Moser and Paige Vincent scored 10 points apiece as the Wildcats (17-0, 11-0) whipped the host Spartans (14-3, 9-2). Mackenzie Reddish tallied a game-high 13 points for Rosalia.

St. John-Endicott 53, LaCrosse-Washtucna 32: Devan Bafus scored 14 points as the Eagles (9-6, 6-5) pulled away in the fourth and beat the host Tigercats (3-15, 2-10). Logan Harter led LaCrosse-Washtucna with 17 points.

Nonleague

Lewiston 61, Sandpoint 28: Tisha Phillips scored a game-high 20 points as the Bengals (16-3) routed the host Bulldogs (8-12). Sandpoint was led by Nikole Alamillo’s 11 points.

Post Falls 49, Moscow 35: Dani Failor had 13 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Trojans (11-8) past the host Bears (8-10). Post Falls outscored Moscow 14-6 in the first quarter of an otherwise close contest. Taylor Anderson led the Bears with 16 points.
