3. A. Sepsis is the body’s overreaction to infection and is more commonly called blood poisoning. Because Spokane has seen a “cluster” of sepsis cases, hospitals are training staffs to be more aware of the symptoms and treat them quickly with antibiotics.

4. B. Washington was 32, down from 31, and Idaho was 50, the same as last year. But Idaho officials said test scores were a more important factor than funding, and Idaho’s are above the national average. Washington test scores are also above average, but state officials said the state isn’t providing adequate funding for education.

5. C. The Shock set the record for most touchdowns at 12, but their 90 points was 9 shy of the AFL record.
