Video shows Reno rodeo horses being shocked

Associated Press

RENO, Nev. – A national animal rights group has released video footage showing Reno Rodeo horses getting shocked just before they leave chutes for competition in an apparent violation of the rodeo’s policy.

Representatives of Showing Animals Respect and Kindness said the video shows someone clandestinely shocking horses as they’re released at the rodeo that was staged from June 14-23.

Rodeo spokesman Steve Schroeder told the Reno Gazette-Journal that a man indeed was seen shocking horses, and organizers were “not OK with that.”

Schroeder wouldn’t identify the man, but said he has been banned from the rodeo.
