Gusty winds today could spread fires

Gusty winds and dry conditions will have the potential to spread fires through fine fuels such as grass, hay and sagebrush today and tonight in Eastern and Central Washington, the National Weather Service warned.

The weather service urged caution in outdoor activities including campfires and fireworks.

Isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected today in Spokane, which will be partly sunny, with a high near 70. Winds from the southwest are expected with gusts as high as 36 miles per hour.

Independence Day is expected to be sunny with a high near 72.

Coeur d’Alene’s high is expected to be about 69 today and 71 on Wednesday.
