Frame takes first-round lead at Lilac

 

Washington State University standout Hank Frame (University High) grabbed the lead on Thursday after the first round of the 49th annual Lilac City Invitational golf tournament at The Fairways.

Frame, who is playing in the Championship Flight, carded a 6-under-par 65 to lead all flights.

Frame has a five-stroke lead over Ed Jonson of Bainbridge Island, Wash., in his flight.

Frame is two shots better than the three leaders in the Professional Flight. Derek Barron of Tacoma, Jason Humphry of Coos Bay, Ore., and Michael Roters of Clarkston all opened with 67s to lead the pros. Steve McPherson of Ritzville shot a 79 to lead Andy Jonson of Bainbridge Island by one stroke in the first flight.

Second-round play begins today at 8 a.m.
