Indians’ hitting woes continue

PASCO – The Spokane Indians’ woes at the plate continued on the road on Saturday night.

In their first meeting this season with Tri-City, the Dust Devils held Spokane to four hits as they shutout the Indians 9-0 in Northwest League action in front of 3,204 fans at Gesa Stadium.

Dust Devils starter Benjamin Hughes struck out seven and allowed two hits in six innings and Eric Federico and Andrew Brown combined for three strikeouts in the final three innings.

Tri-City (11-12) scored three runs in the second inning and added six in the eighth while the Indians (8-15) have only scored one run in their last 31 innings.

Gonzaga product and Spokane rookie Royce Bolinger, who has struggled at the plate this season and is batting just .131, was 2 for 4.
