Obituary: Meurer, Clara

MEURER,
Clara

Our precious Clara left us to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of June 29, 2012.

Her peaceful passing to her beloved Kingdom of Jesus was a welcome respite, as her first and last thoughts each day were of Him.

She was a truly faithful servant of her Lord.
Clara was born on June 9, 1911 to Carl Hansen and Annette Everson Hansen in Anatone, WA, the third of 11 children.

She graduated from Anatone High School in 1932.

After her marriage to Charles Meurer they made their home in Wenatchee.

Both were in the fruit industry there, with Clara retiring as a packing floor supervisor.

Both were active members of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, volunteering many hours of their time in the service of God.
When Charlie passed away in 1971, Clara remained in Wenatchee at their home on Chelan Ave. until 1980 when she moved to Spokane to be near her sister, buying a home just across the street from her.

She nurtured her beautiful yard until health problems made it impossible to continue living on her own.

She then sold her house and moved in across the street with her sister Rachel, who had then recently lost her husband Bill.

She lived with Rachel for a number of years until her failing health required specialized care.

She lived at Manor Care in Spokane until her passing.
She was preceded in death by seven brothers (Herman, Oscar, Norman, Alfred, Lee, Harold, and Elvin Hansen) and her sister Margaret Miller.

She is survived by sisters Rachel Lewis of Spokane and Eleanor Nuxoll and sister-in-law Genell Hansen, both of Clarkston, WA as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished friends that include Carol and Lou Barrier and Helen Krekris, both of Wenatchee.

The family thanks the staff at Manor Care who lovingly cared for her in her final days, with special thanks to Amanda who was very special to Clara.
