(Age 79)

Passed away on Monday, July 2, 2012 at her home in Spokane.

Dorothy, daughter of Michael and Zelemia (Bohnet) Winter, was born July 21, 1932 in Odessa, WA.

She graduated from Odessa High School in 1950.

She married Robert H. Schafer on November 14, 1953.

They moved to Spokane, where they had three children: Steve, Cynthia and Kathleen.
Dorothy worked for School District 81 in food service and retired from Deaconess Hospital after 20+ years in the dietary department.

She was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and most recently Pilgrim Lutheran Church.

She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing board games with her friends and her two cats, Princee and Teddy.


Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Schafer (January 4, 1992); her granddaughter Heather Lynn Schafer (October 4, 1997) and her daughter Kathleen M. Schafer (September 18, 1998).

She is survived by her son, Steve Schafer and wife Vicki of Cusick WA; her daughter Cynthia Stanger and husband Brian of Mead WA; grandchildren: Jennifer Schafer, Ashley Stanger and Bryson Stanger; one sister, Esther Greenwalt of Ritzville and two brothers, Walt and Art Winter of Odessa.
She will be dearly missed by her family .
A Funeral Service will be held Monday, July 9, at 12:00 Noon at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 2733 W. Northwest Blvd with reception to follow at the church.

A Graveside Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery.
