Dino Rossi gets appointed back to state Senate

Associated Press
OLYMPIA — Dino Rossi is going to be a state senator once again. The Metropolitan King County Council appointed Rossi on Monday to serve out the remainder of former Sen. Cheryl Pflug’s term. He is expected to serve largely as a caretaker, since lawmakers are not expected to return to Olympia until January. The new 5th District senator will begin the job after the results of the November election are certified. Rossi served in the state Senate from 1997 to 2003 and then ran for governor in 2004 and 2008, then for U.S. Senate in 2010. The Republican is currently working for a real estate company. Pflug resigned from the Senate to take a job on the Washington Growth Management Hearings Board. Rossi will be sworn in today.
