Post Falls man dies in wood-gathering accident
A 49-year-old Post Falls man was killed when his vehicle, fully loaded with firewood, rolled over him in Shoshone County on Saturday.
Raymond Martin was found on Little Guard Peak Road off the Coeur d’Alene River Road and died of his injuries before he could be taken to the hospital, a news release from the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office said.

Raymond Martin was found on Little Guard Peak Road off the Coeur d’Alene River Road and died of his injuries before he could be taken to the hospital, a news release from the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office said.
The report initially came in as a rollover accident, the release said. Sheriff’s deputies and the Prichard/Murray Volunteer Fire Department responded and took Martin to Shoshone Base Camp to rendezvous with a Medstar helicopter. However, Martin died shortly after connecting with Medstar, the release said.
An investigation revealed that Martin was struck by his own vehicle, which was loaded with firewood. The vehicle continued down the road and went over a steep embankment about 10 feet from the roadway.
