Spokane apartment building damaged in fire

From staff reports
Eight people were displaced Monday night when their northwest Spokane apartment building caught fire. Spokane Fire Department responded to the apartment building at 1423 W. Mission Ave. at 6:19 p.m. to find smoke coming from the roof and a second-floor window. The fire was under control within 30 minutes and all occupants made it out safely, the fire department reported. Seven adults and one child are being housed by the Red Cross until repairs can be made and utilities restored to the building. Damage was estimated at $15,000 and the cause is under investigation.
