In brief: ESPN selects Gonzaga for Tip-Off Marathon

Basketball: For the fourth straight season, Gonzaga will be part of ESPN’s Tip-Off Marathon.

The Bulldogs will entertain West Virginia on Monday, Nov. 12, at 9 p.m. at the McCarthey Athletic Center in the first of 11 straight games televised on ESPN. Gonzaga is coming off a 26-7 season, including a 77-54 blowout of the Mountaineers in a second-round NCAA tournament game in Pittsburgh. West Virginia finished 19-14.

Gonzaga is 1-2 in previous Tip-Off Marathon appearances, with a win over Washington State last season and losses to San Diego State two years ago and Michigan State three years ago.

Leaf won’t go to Texas for now

Football: Ryan Leaf’s attorney says Texas prosecutors have canceled their outstanding warrants until the ex-NFL quarterback completes drug treatment in Montana.

Leaf had been facing extradition to face a probation revocation hearing in Randall County after he was charged with drug and burglary offenses in Great Falls this spring.

Leaf was sentenced in June to spend nine months in drug treatment, followed by six months in a prerelease center and two years of probation.

After his sentencing, Texas authorities issued warrants for Leaf to appear at a hearing to revoke the probation sentence that he received for drug charges in 2010.

Leaf attorney Kenneth Olson tells the Great Falls Tribune the warrants have been rescinded so that Leaf can serve out his Montana sentence before facing potential penalties in Texas.

Crawford signs with Clippers

Basketball: Jamal Crawford is moving down the West Coast to join the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Clippers say the free-agent guard signed a deal on Wednesday.

Crawford averaged 13.9 points, 3.2 assists and 2.0 rebounds in 60 games in his lone season with Portland.
