Want a leader, not a friend

In The Spokesman-Review of July 7, Ryan Karr (“Romney an unhealthy choice”) asks, “Wouldn’t we like a president who’s sensitive, caring, kind and reachable?” Apparently, he feels this describes President Barack Obama. My best friend exhibits those qualities, but those are not the qualities I look for in a leader of the free world.

I want a president who understands how to create jobs, how to improve the economy, how to show pride in America, not apologize for our country, and how to spend our tax dollars with the care he would use if spending his own money. We need to get our economy back on track.

Ryan looks around Spokane and sees rampant lingering sickness, rotting teeth in young people and obesity through the roof. I see mostly healthy people. I rarely see rotting teeth in young or old people. This can be caused by meth use or by poor dental hygiene. Obesity is certainly an issue in America. But that has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not a person has health insurance. That, for the most part, has to do with personal choices a person makes in eating and exercise.
