(Age 96)

Passed away July 11, 2012 in Spokane Valley, WA.

She was the fifth child of 12 born in Dodge, ND to John and Frances Streifel.

She grew up in Dodge and worked on her family’s farm.

During the Great Depression, Marian moved to Spokane to work at Armours Packing Plant so that she could help support her family.

There she met Cecil Hibbs and they were married October 16, 1946.

They lived in the Spokane and Clarkston areas.

Marian’s entire life was dedicated to the Lord and she was a devout Catholic.

She knew why she was here and where she was going.

Marian was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for over 43 years, serving in the altar society and helping with many events and programs.

For the past three years she has been a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Marian also enjoyed volunteering and participating in many community events such as organizing an annual bazaar and walking Bloomsday every year until she was 77.

She had a huge garden and fruit trees that she enjoyed working throughout the years as well.

Marian had a quiet presence and was there for you whenever you needed her.

She was so very special.

Marian is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Diana Hibbs of Veradale, WA and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Hibbs; siblings; her parents, and most recently Joe and Barney Streifel.

A Rosary Service will be held Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 7 PM and Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, July 20, 2012 at 10 AM, both at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Spokane Valley, WA.
