Obituary: Hoppman, Dennis Lee


HOPPMAN, Dennis

Dennis Lee Hoppman passed away peacefully on June 22nd, 2012, surrounded by his family.


Dennis and his twin brother, Dean, were born on March 20, 1945 in Minot, ND to Bernard and Nellie Hoppman.

He is survived by his wife, Maureen, his brother Norman, children Christine, Kathy, Stephanie, John, Diana, Matt and 15-grandchildren.


Dennis retired from the Air Force in 1983, as a physician’s extender, after 20 years of active duty.


Dennis joined the Coast Guard Auxiliary in May 1996 eventually being elected and serving as Commodore of the District 13 (Washington, Idaho, Montana and Oregon) Auxiliary in 2009 and 2010.

He loved boating and embraced the Auxiliary message of recreational boating safety.

He enjoyed passing on his knowledge through on-the-water safety patrols, instructing safe boating classes and mentoring new Auxiliarists.
His enthusiasm for life was infectious.

4th of July was his favorite holiday.

Golfing, hunting, fishing, outdoor gatherings, cookouts, woodworking, photography and motorcycle trips kept him busy during retirement.
We want to thank the nurses that cared for Dennis.


Dennis will be interred at the Veterans Cemetery, 21702 W Espanola Road, Medical Lake, WA on Friday, July 20, 2012 at 2:15 PM.
A remembrance of Dennis’ life will be held on Saturday at 1PM, July 21st, 2012 at the VFW Post 1435, 212 S. David Street, Spokane Valley, WA 509-535-9315.
