Of Spokane, Washington and also known during his long term residence in Ennis, Montana as “The Madisonian Man,” entered into rest on July 6, 2012, supported by the love of his family, after his long courageous struggle with cancer.
Joe was born the only son and second of three children to Deland O. Taylor and Ruth (Cramer) Taylor on October 6, 1940 in Buffalo, Oklahoma.
The family moved to Washington State in 1947 and settled in Spokane in 1948.
He attended Irving grade school and graduated from Lewis & Clark High School in 1958 after which he began in military service in the US Army, serving overseas in Germany.
His adventurous life led him to California and Montana where he graduated from Montana State University and set out as a gold miner, a writer and other business ventures.
He is survived by his loving mother, Ruth Taylor; and two sisters, Dela (Dee) Hopkins and N. Marlene Willis, all of Spokane, Washington and numerous cousins.
He will be remembered affectionately as “Uncle Joe” by his many nieces, nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 21 at Fairmount Memorial Park in the Sunset Chapel at 1:00pm, located at 5200 W. Wellesley Ave. Spokane, Washington.
