Spokane police arrest and charge trio for 7-11 armed robbery

Three arrested early Sunday on Spokane South Hill

Staff reports
Three men have been booked into Spokane jail early Sunday morning on charges they stole money at gunpoint from a 7-11 store on Spokane’s South Hill. Police say the three men, Joseph Taitano, 20, Aleksandr Ampleyev, 20, and Jorell Jones, 21, took part in the armed robbery of the convenience store at 1317 S. Grand. Police say the three committed the robbery around 2 a.m. early Sunday. The store clerk said two masked men entered the store with handguns and robbed him. They fled the scene in a purple minivan which had a third occupant, according to the victim report. About 20 minutes after responding to the scene, a Spokane police officer spotted the van at a Cenex gas station at 57th and Regal. The police report said money and handguns were visible in the van. Officers arrested the pair inside the van and took them to city county jail. While following the car towing the van to impound, Spokane police say they saw a third male who matched the description of the van occupant. He was picked up by police who took him into custody. The report did not disclose how much cash was taken in the robbery.
