A TIME TO BE BORN:
Patricia Irene Shines Bradford was born August 26, 1966 to Catherine and JaOscar Shines, Sr. in Santa Clara, California at Kaiser Foundation Hospital.
A TIME TO PLANT:
Patricia loved people and she showed love to everyone wherever she would go.
She could brighten an entire room with her smile, she often said kind words to anyone she would meet.
She shared her ministry by spreading love and laughter to others without hesitation.
She loved kids and never passed on an opportunity to provide mentorship and guidance.
Her favorite line was, if my husband can escape the grips of poverty so can you.
In her spare time, she enjoyed pursuing her education, traveling, and walking with her husband.
A TIME TO BUILD:
Patricia attended Cooper Elementary School, Shaw Junior High School and she graduated from Rogers Senior School, Spokane, Washington.
She entered the U.S. Army where she served honorably for six years.
She was the Fort Myer Casualty Operations Center’s training instructor where she helped prepare military personnel to perform the duties of casualty notification and casualty assistance.
The course is required for Sergeant First Class and above, Chief Warrant Officer 2 and Captains and above throughout the National Capital Region, including Washington, D.C., Alexandria and Arlington and Fairfax Counties in Virginia and Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties in Maryland.
Patricia’s ministry was always helping people.
She was quoted in the Pentagon Newspaper (Pentagram) on the importance of her job.

It is very professionally fulfilling knowing that when the phone rings you’re going to have a positive effect on a family.
A TIME TO DIE:
Patricia Irene Bradford took eternal rest on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at 2:30 am, Potomac Hospital, Woodbridge, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her father, JaOscar Shines; brother JaOscar Shines, Jr., and sister Wanda Ann Shines.
Those left to cherish her memories are her devoted husband of 25 years, 1SG (Ret) David Bradford, Jr.; one son David Bradford, III, New York, New York, NY; loving mother Mrs. Catherine Shine, Woodbridge, VA; two sisters, Janice D. Thompson (Curtis) Jalom, CA; Donna K. Bennett, New Port, WA; one brother, Joseph Shines (Masumi) Cambridge, PA. Three close and special nieces, Latisha Hill (Eric) Latoya Muncaster (Jimmy) Lacey, WA, and Cherice McCully, Spokane, WA; three sisters-in-law, Elgin Bradford, Shreveport, LA; Rose Marie Smith, Alexandria, LA, and Shirley Freeman, Ball, LA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Patricia left many beautiful memories for us all.
Services will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Fort Myer Memorial Chapel, 204 Lee Road, Fort Myer, VA. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
