Obituary: Greenwald, Bernadette Ann Marie

Age 58

GREENWALD,
Bernadette
Ann Marie
(Cruise)
April 9, 1954 -
June 28, 2012

It is with great love that we celebrate the life of Bernadette, the daughter of Richard Cruise and AndrĂŠe (Delaleux) Cruise.

Bernie was born in Trail, BC Canada and moved to Spokane at a young age.

She attended St. Charles Elementary School and graduated from Holy Names Academy in 1972.

Bernie moved to Seattle shortly after graduation to attend the University of Washington.

Bernie was very involved in every aspect of her high school, including the baton swirling Acadettes who performed many half time shows at Joe Albi Stadium.

She was also a member of the fashion board of what was formerly known as The Bon, which is now a part of Macy’s.

Bernie continued to work at The Bon in Seattle and quickly climbed the corporate ladder to become a manager of the Olympia and South Center Stores.

Bernie moved to Florida in the late 1980s.

While her presence was greatly missed in Pacific Northwest, this was where she was meant to be as she met husband David there.

It was love at first sight and the pair quickly became inseparable.

They were blessed with the birth of their son Christian in 1991.

Bernie continued her professional career working as an Executive Head Hunter and eventually as Accounts Payable Manager at the Gulf Stream Goodwill.

She is preceded in death by her father, Richard Cruise, grandmother Marie Bonnell, aunt and uncle Mimi and Art James, and cousin Edward Haynes.

She is survived by her husband David Greenwald and son Christian; her mother AndrĂŠe Cruise; brother Tom Cruise (Ona Cruise); and sister Michelle (Cruise) Johnson; along with her numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

The family met in Seattle on July 7, 2012 in remembrance of her life.

Bernie had a strong sense of family and knew how to enjoy life and mark life’s special occasions.

She would not let a holiday or birthday pass without a celebration or one of her delicious meals.

Forever in our hearts, her presence will be missed.
